Read: 1 Samuel 24:1-22
David is not swayed by his troops who want him to do away with mad King Saul. David, instead, leaves the judgment up to God saying, “May the Lord be the judge and decide between us...” David expects God to act decisively to vindicate him in the face of Saul’s attacks.
We Pray: Lord, You have said, “Revenge is mine, I will repay.” I trust that you will deal with anyone attacking me in the same way you did with Saul. Amen.

Read: Psalm 74:10-17
Even the faithful sometimes feel that God is distant. A lingering illness, a broken relationship, a financial catastrophe can cause even the strongest believer to have feeling of doubt. Questions are asked, “Where is God? Why doesn’t He do something?” Now read again verses 12-17. See how the psalmist reminds him that God is near.
We Pray: Lord, help me to take You at Your word that You will never leave me nor forsake me. Amen.

Read: Isaiah 26:1-11
Read verse three again. The word, “stayed,” would remind the Hebrew reader of a tent rope that is tied or stayed to a long peg in the ground, securing the tent in the windy desert. It’s a wonderful metaphor telling of the importance of keeping one’s focus on the Lord.
We Pray: Lord, strengthen my trust in You. Amen.

Read: Mark 8:1-21
Hungry once again, the disciples forget that providing for their needs is one of Jesus’ specialty. Nor do they get that Jesus is the Christ, who changes water into wind and feeds 5,000 with five loaves.
We Pray: Thank You, Lord, for the many times your blessed, comforted and helped me. Amen.

Read: Romans 6:15-23
Every person serves something, giving his or her energies to some goal, person or organization. After we serve long enough, we identify with that master and take on its characteristics. What or whom do you serve. Think about it.
We Pray: God, enable me to live in such a way that people would identify me with You. Amen.

Read: 1 John 2:2-11
The Lord’s message is clear: He commands us to follow Him and walk in the same way in which He Himself walked. What resources does God give us to follow Jesus?
We Pray: God, thank You for the Gospel which empowers me to hear Your Word of grace so that I might be Your disciple. Amen.
